An artist of the Cobra movement, Serge Vandercam initially gained attention for his photographic work at the turn of the 1950s. His photographic period was brief: between 1948 and 1953. His works stood out for their originality and his photographs were exhibited, at the initiative of Christian Dotremont, founder of Cobra, with those of Raoul Ubac and Roland d'Ursel.
