“I wish, Baron, that your case would proceed more quickly and that your reinstatement would be published in the Moniteur tomorrow. I have been told of the royal prejudices reported in the newspapers. I have been told that I would lose everything by acting too hastily , and that success was assured after the adoption of [?] in the Chamber of Deputies, and that you would be appointed the day after the vote. So, it is a month to wait. It has pained me greatly to see this further delay in justice. I did not consent to it, but I must remain entirely of my opinion, and the others who have been very kind to you have maintained that their opinion is in your best interests and in the interest of my friendship. Now that my initial emotion has subsided, I think they may be right, especially if the daily newspapers become less hostile. But I find it difficult to understand how what is just and honorable cannot be done immediately. You know, Baron, my devotion.
