The estimate allows you to give a price scale to your documents. Indeed, a letter from Victor Hugo setting out to meet a stranger will not have the same value as a letter from the same Hugo to his lover Juliette Drouet. A letter from Paul Verlaine writing to his wife Mathilde will be much more valued than a note from the poet demanding 5 francs from his publisher Vanier.
