Raymond RADIGUET (1903.1923)

Autographed letter signed to Irène Lagut.

Three pages in-12°. July 11.

A very beautiful letter from Radiguet to his painter friend, evoking Jean Cocteau and his own poems.

"Dear friend, I am not like Jean and do not have a newspaper to ask for your address (only a few 'literary' magazines that you fortunately don't read). Did you receive the latest issue of Littérature , which contains my dictation? Enclosed is a poem, or rather a page of writing. For what surely caused me the most suffering was copying it onto that dreadful compliment paper, which leaves my fingers white. Put yours on, preferably on the second page. You will see that I am not lying. Writing on compliment paper spares me from offering you any. And consequently, I will not speak of your 'painting' (this foul word shocks you, I hope?). Please give my regards to your husband and believe me, Madam, your devoted Raymond Radiguet - 4 avenue Charles VII, Parc St Maur, Seine - PS Josette Gris doesn't dare throw away the flowers (now faded, though) that you sent her." Because it's a gift from you!
