“My dearest friend, I am very sorry about what happened to the object—the tree trunk—that you lent me for the exhibition, and which I consider one of the most important I have ever made . Needless to say, I will do my very best to repair it; you could perhaps look for something similar at a flea market to replace what is missing. I am completely immersed in my work. It will not be possible for me to come to Paris before the end of May or the beginning of June. As I am still expected to sign the lithographs, it might be helpful if you could inform Cordier and Monsieur Fall of this delay so they know what to expect. My wife and I send you and Élise our warmest regards. Believe me, my dear André, in my deepest friendship. Miró.”
