“My dear Arnoux, I read with great pleasure what you published about me in La Patrie on the 15th: I recognize in it your kindness, which never failed me when encouragement was scarce and which I still find today. I, in turn, will praise you for the composition of your article and for the simple yet striking way in which you captured the spirit of the ceremony. Thank you a thousand times, my dear friend, and I look forward to the pleasure of shaking your hand. Yours most devotedly, Eug. Delacroix.”
