Vallauris. Circa 1947-1948.

A superb print depicting Picasso at work, smiling, in the Madoura studio in Vallauris. The master, brush in hand, is applying his colors to a ceramic plate of his own creation.

During the summer of 1946, Picasso visited an exhibition in Vallauris and was captivated by the work of Georges and Suzanne Ramié, owners of the Madoura pottery workshop. Returning to Vallauris the following year, the artist immersed himself with a consuming passion in creating ceramics. He would go on to produce approximately 4,500 pieces.
