" We are among the tall trees and in the middle of the gentle green hills. Your patient's eyes are doing well here. You deserve to be a Zouave, for you are a healer. Around the 12th, in eleven or twelve days, we will return to Brussels and we hope to see you there."
Dear Doctor Emile, come and occupy your little room overlooking the garden [Hugo's address in Brussels] It will be my sustenance for the arduous ocean crossing to Guernsey that I will soon have to make again. Come, come, come, from the 12th onwards, we will be waiting for you in Brussels. I am yours from the bottom of my heart. VH
Thank you for Hernani . I recognized your handwriting on the envelope of a Liberté from August 30th, discussing Ruy Blas , and in that regard, I owe you a great deal for newspaper purchases and postage. I must allow you to reimburse you for the past and a little for the future, and I ask you to forward the two lines below to our dear Paul Meurice. V.
Dear Meurice, please be so kind as to give, in my name, one hundred francs to our excellent friend Dr. Emile Allix. Victor Hugo. Chaudfontaine. September 1 , 1867.
