“Dear friends in Rome. I wrote to A. Farcy. We passed through Grenoble. We can’t go back this time. But I prefer to come with my wife and my little girl, Rodhania—or simply Rose. I have to see again the dreadful patinas of victory and strength. Thank you for lending your bronze to the museum. Please convey my warmest and most heartfelt regards at home. Explain everything to A. Farcy and Flandrin, and see you very soon—better than with a hectic postcard. Ant. Bourdelle.”
