This is the only known portrait of Delacroix painted by Félix Nadar!

We know that the painter had demanded that the photographer destroy the photograph of him. Delacroix, who was suffering at the time the picture was taken, saw it as "a sad image.".

Thanks be to the photographer for having preserved this print which today constitutes the most famous photograph of the romantic painter.
