Dear Liar is an epistolary comedy by the American writer Jerome Kilty, based on the correspondence of two famous lovers: the Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw and the English actress Mrs. Campbell. This text was adapted into French by Jean Cocteau , and the play premiered in Paris on September 25, 1980, at the Théâtre de l'Athénée, with Edwige Feuillère and Jean Marais in the two lead roles. Yves Saint Laurent designed and had Edwige Feuillère's stage costumes made in his ateliers. Hector Pascual assisted him with the set design. As a memento of their collaboration, YSL gave her three sketchbooks on Canson paper, dedicated to the dresses designed for the occasion.

Hector Pascual (1928-2014) was the curator of the collections at the Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent Foundation from 1981 to 2009. He met Yves Saint Laurent during the preparation of the revue " Zizi je t'aime " at the Casino de Paris in 1972. For ten years afterward, he served as YSL's assistant, designing costumes for plays by Jacques Cocteau such as * L'Aigle à deux têtes* and *Cher menteur *. In 1981, YSL appointed him curator of the collections for his fashion house, within the Yves Saint Laurent Documentation Center. The two men enjoyed a perfect understanding. Saint Laurent responded to Pascual's profound admiration with numerous expressions of affection, as evidenced by this letter.
