In 1949, Paul Éluard dedicated a series of five poetic programs to French Radio, Les chemins et les routes de la poésie (The Paths and Roads of Poetry) , aiming not only to convey to listeners a broader conception of poetry, but also to convince them of their own poetic abilities.
