“My dear May, I thank you most sincerely for sending me the Picasso exhibition catalogue, which is very well done. I will show it to Picasso this evening, and he will translate the essential points of your important preface for me. You must have received the issue of Cahiers d'Art. Paris is colorless and agitated by the unbelievable tone of the entire press regarding Germany. Please always let me know what interests you about the Surrealist works or what you feel is missing. I will always try to send it to you. Give our regards to Mr. Ferrant (I am including one of his photographs in the next issue of Cahiers d'Art, until something better comes along). With our warmest regards, Paul.”

In February 1936, Picasso's first exhibition was held in Madrid, organised by the Catalan group ADLAN (Friends of the New Arts) for which Guillermo de Torre (member of ADLAN) wrote the preface and bibliography.
