Vintage silver gelatin print (1945) depicting General de Gaulle and his wife Yvonne entering the Théâtre de l'Athénée to attend the gala performance of La Folle de Chaillot .

Written during the occupation by Jean Giraudoux, La Folle de Chaillot – a play in two acts – was created at the Théâtre de l'Athénée by Louis Jouvet after the death of its author.

The gala performance on Friday, December 21, 1945 (date of the photograph shown here) was held for the benefit of the Association of Resistance Fighters of 1940, under the effective presidency of General de Gaulle, in uniform.
