Suffering from severe diabetes during the last years of his life, Jules Verne was struck down on March 16, 1905, in Amiens, by a violent attack and was forced to take to his bed. He did not recover from this attack.
The last days of his life were a slow agony towards death. He died at his home, 44 boulevard Longueville, in Amiens, on March 24, 1905.
