Official photographer of Free France in London, Germaine Kanova (1902-1975) was the first female war correspondent for the French army. Based in London where she took portraits of pre-war celebrities, she enlisted in November 1944 as a war photographer to follow the progress of the French army during the liberation of the territory and the German campaign.
