A moving letter from Chaissac, “ poor as hell” and “ in a pitiful state” , hoping for a visit from his friend to his Vendée lands of Vix.

“Dear friend, your question is of course part of the ritual of your summer program. The map could just as easily have told you that Vix is on the Nantes-Luçon-La Rochelle line and we border the commune of Tangon, Charente-Maritime . If you come, which would be quite extraordinary, and would sorry state, for, driven by events, I have not been able to benefit from the excellent publicity that was given to me . My tragedy continues its course with renewed vigor. More than ever, I am as poor as Job. But this may be fortunate for the viability of the doctrine I have just founded.
