" Dear Gala and Paul, I'm waiting to hear from you. I'm quite bored and would like to leave soon. The Japanese guy finally promised to move on the 11th; I'll be settling in on the 12th and will probably leave on the evening of the 12th or the morning of the 13th at the latest. I'm sending two more notes that you might have missed. The fuss this whole thing is making is crazy; it's just a shame it's giving such publicity to old R."

My dearest Gala, you're in no hurry to tell me whether you miss me or not. Oh, the great sadness of Sundays in Paris! (What an Alexandrian I am!) It's raining, it's raining, it's raining. Goodbye, don't cry, I'm giving you a hug. M.
