« We are pleased to announce the sending of the history of the commune, which has finally been published..»

Louise Michel announces the publication of her book on the Paris Commune.

"My dear friend Alexandra Roy, Thank you a thousand times for the books, of which we have only been able to read a portion so far, as we were in a hurry. You will receive a letter about them in a few days. Here is just a note to let you know that the history of the Commune has finally been published. We have just arrived from Paris where we didn't have a moment to spare. This is the first letter I am writing. Charlotte, myself, Achille, and his brother send you our warmest regards. L. Michel."

Following up on the letter, Charlotte Vauvelle sends her regards to comrade Roy.

In 1898, Louise Michel published La Commune with Stock. "To write this book is to relive the terrible days when liberty, brushing against us with its wing, flew from the slaughterhouse; it is to reopen the bloody pit where, under the tragic dome of the fire, the beautiful Commune fell asleep for its nuptials with death, the red nuptials of martyrdom."
