" Dear Sir,

Here is [Jacques] Copeau asking me to succeed him as director of the Vieux-Colombier and I have accepted; I would be happy, knowing the interest you have in the theatre and this house in particular, to be able to explain to you the projects that I have been led to form for the resumption of the operation of the Vieux-Colombier.

I beg you, dear Sir, to present to Madame Fauchier-Magnan my respectful regards – and I assure you here of my cordial devotion with my very faithful memory. Louis Jouvet »
