"As a Monegasque, I don't see why you're making me a scapegoat."
Léo Ferré is furious with the Canard enchaîné Clément Ledoux (whom Ferré renames for the occasion "Clément Lamer") following the latter's relentless attacks against him in the pages of the satirical newspaper.

Dear Clément Lamer, As a Monegasque, I don't see why you've singled me out as a scapegoat. Perhaps my appearance doesn't incline you to be lenient, unlike some other artist you cherish? What a crime indeed, wanting to compose after Lully ! [sic]
But don't you yourself presume to be witty, following in the footsteps of Rochefort and Allais, to write pamphlets (albeit cautiously) after Daudet and Galtier-Boissière, and to write after Gide and Malraux and so many others? So, greetings. Leo Ferré.

In 1975, as a guest of honor on Jacques Chancel's Grand échiquier, Ferré would again complain about the hatred and harassment from the journalist of Le Canard enchaîné.
Clément Ledoux is the pseudonym of journalist Pierre Châtelain-Tailhade (1904-1977) who collaborated with the newspaper from 1931 until his death in 1977. At his death in March 1977, Châtelain-Tailhade was presented as the last of the active team to have known Maurice Maréchal, the founder of the satirical newspaper.
