Keith Haring (1958.1990)

Autographed photographic card signed to Michael Levin.

Two oblong 12mo pages.

Olympics 84 stamp – USA and postal cancellation on the reverse.

New York. April 1985 according to the postmark.

Document enhanced with two original drawings by Keith Haring, in black felt-tip pen, on the front and back of the card.

The front features a photograph of the artist taken by Christian Rossier. Haring, wearing round glasses and a determined gaze, sports a white sleeveless tank top on which he represents the numbers of the year 85 in a style typical of his mastery of positive and negative space. In the lower margin, he adds his signature Keith H. and rewrites the date 85.

The pre-printed back cover announcing his opening at the Corinne Hummel Gallery in Basel in 1984 is surmounted by a large drawing by the artist depicting a dancing figure (the famous Dancing Man) whose radiant hand/head encompasses the name Keith Haring printed at the top of the page. On the right-hand side, Haring writes the address of his correspondent residing at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
