Kees VAN DONGEN (1877-1968)

Autograph letter signed to a friend.

A page in-4°. Slight tear without damage to the text, restored on the back.

Cannes. January 13. Undated.

The Fauvist master strolls in the south without wanting to be bothered.

“Dear friend, I'm walking around the south and I don't have the time or the desire to worry about my praise and I'm against the large imitation of my signature, it's just good for people who make false signatures. So I prefer that my name be put there if it is necessary in print. Best regards. Van Dongen. If you didn't receive the little New Year's card, it's not my fault, it's my wife who takes care of these things and she must have forgotten it. Happy New Year anyway. You will find a proof of these cards at Mourlot. »
