“Dear friend, I’m traveling in the south of France and I don’t have the time or the inclination to deal with my own eulogy , and I’m against large-scale imitations of my signature; that’s only good for people who forge signatures. So I prefer that my name be printed on it if necessary. Yours sincerely, Van Dongen. If you didn’t receive the little New Year’s card, it’s not my fault; my wife takes care of that sort of thing and she must have forgotten it. Happy New Year anyway. You’ll surely find a proof of these cards at Mourlot’s.
