"My greatest luxury is not having to justify myself to anyone."

An extraordinary drawing by the German designer, created for the launch of his H&M collection in 2004, depicting a young woman wearing a black trench coat and the iconic large-collared shirt.

To his left, Lagerfeld creates his self-portrait in profile, wearing dark glasses and a ponytail, observing his model with blood-red lips.

The cufflinks and tie knots are enhanced with silver gouache, giving relief and perspective to this precious and delicate work.

A border drawn with a red felt-tip pen, revealing the outline of the H&M logo in the lower left corner.

Signed and dated in the lower right margin: Karl Lagerfeld 2004

Size: 21 x 29 cm
