"Dear friend, Your letter touched me, and I regret all the more that I cannot grant your wish.

To those of you who don't have much joy, I would have liked to give you the joy of acquiring Tintin in the Land of the Soviets. And know that I wouldn't have "sold" it to you, but given it to you. For this to happen, there was one necessary condition: that I still possess a few copies of this album; however, I only have one left for myself.

If, one day, Tintin in the Land of the Soviets were to be republished in a limited edition, I would remember the wish you expressed and I would try to fulfill it. But, alas! I cannot promise you anything.

Expressing my regrets once again, and offering you my best wishes, I ask you, dear friend, to accept my sincere sympathy. Hergé
