“Dear Sir, Madame Mignon Massart confirms that you would be kind enough to present me to the Nantes public for the lecture you are giving on Thursday, March 4th. I reiterate my sincere thanks and add to the presentation I gave you in my last letter the thought I have had to make a few changes. The original text was addressed to an audience of young artists and led me to develop technical details which I have gradually removed in order to focus on the great creators and the realization of their most moving works, between the two guiding principles of light and color which remain the basis of the chosen theme. The subtlety I seek at the heart of these works leaves me with the desire to be heard by an audience for whom the simplicity and inner beauty of the work remain…”
