"My dear colleague, I am sending you herewith a sealed envelope deposited by my son [Jean Becquerel] concerning a fact he has observed for several months and which appears to be fundamental. However, my son would like to explore its various details further before publishing it, and we would be most grateful if you would ask the Academy to accept, at its next meeting, the deposit of this sealed envelope. I take this opportunity to send you, with my advance thanks, the respectful expression of my most sincerely devoted sentiments. Henri Becquerel."
