“I will be obliged to let Daniel Cordier know, until the end of the month, whether the “Doll” will participate in the exhibition or not.»

Bellmer organizes the participation of his Doll in the EROS exhibition organized by Breton, at the Daniel Cordier gallery.

“My dear friend, Please excuse me for being late: these Parisian heat waves have not done us any good. However, we found a small worker's accommodation, near your house - and it seems that we will have the keys tomorrow evening. You did not tell me, in your letter of August 13, what you think practically of my suggestion (sincere and important to my conscience): to put the staging of the “Doll” in the category “the past” of the catalog of the planned exhibition . Since the costs of the – or constructions – will be the responsibility of the gallery, I will be obliged to let Daniel Cordier know, until the end of the month, whether the “Doll” will participate in the exhibition or not . I have just written to José Pierre going into details (ectachromes – Sonnenstern postcards , Springer gallery, etc.). Thank you for sending me this letter from my only friend from Katowice (Willi Heyman) of whom I had completely lost track since the death of my first wife. I wrote to him straight away, but he hasn't replied yet – which is strange. We hope to hear from you soon – and see you as soon as our hoped-for move is complete. To Elisa and yourself our affectionate thoughts. Hans and Unica. »
