"Have you thought about the Bouilhet (Hélène Peyron) advertisement for the intermission [theatre program review] ?

Dennery firmly refused. A thousand handshakes. G. Flaubert .

In the face of Louis Bouilhet's discouragement, Flaubert had decided to defend and promote his friend's dramatic play, Hélène Peyron , which would be performed at the Odéon on November 11, 1858.

This note follows his initial request to Lévy, dated December 24, 1857:

My dear Michel, Could you (and even if you couldn’t, please do it!) insert the following short item L’Entracte Hélène Peyron , a five-act comedy in verse, was read last Saturday at the Odéon. It will be studied immediately.’ This is important because several small newspapers have announced that it will not be performed this year. No news from Dennery so far.”
