"Dear friend, I am sending you Miss Annie Besnard, whom I have already mentioned, as she needs to work and is very pretty and will be of service when summoned. You would do me a great favor by seeing her for a moment. Thank you and all my best. Antonin Artaud."

In the spring of 1932, Marcel Pagnol had just founded his own production company, based in Boulogne-Billancourt. On November 2nd of that same year, the film adaptation of his play Fanny , directed by Marc Allégret, was released under his production.
It should be noted that on the same October 12th, Artaud wrote a letter in every respect similar to the producer and director Laurent Tual (1902-1956).
Artaud's Letters to Annie Besnard were published in 1977 by Le Nouveau Commerce.
