Jones's often provocative work is distinguished by its depiction of women in unambiguous positions. His fascination with erotic imagery, the figure of woman presented in an ambiguous, erotic, and fantasized way, remains the recurring and obsessive subject of his work.

In 1969 he created his very famous series of mannequin sculptures representing pin-ups transformed into furniture: table, coat rack, chair.
