“Dear Lady Crosfield, Many thanks for your kind letter of congratulations on the engagement. I am still so busy answering letters and telegrams and I have to go to Paris on business soon, that unless you have anything important to communicate … I won't be able to see you for a while yet. With reversed thanks, I remain yours sincerely. Alice.

 

The engagement of Philip and Elizabeth was publicly announced on July 10, 1947. The wedding took place at Westminster Abbey on November 20 of that same year.
