The father of the Three Musketeers announces his arrival in Naples alongside Garibaldi.

“Dear friend, if you continue to write to me so often, as I do not want to lose a single one of your letters, send them to me from now on in Naples where I will be in two days God willing and where I will rest like you advise doing it without sleeping and as you are doing this year. I kiss you rascal and I love you. A. Dumas. Chiatamone Palace – Naples. Here's my address – we don't know what could happen.

In 1860, Alexandre Dumas worked alongside Giuseppe Garibaldi for the unification of Italy. The latter, after his triumphal entry into Naples, will appoint the writer to the honorary post of director of museums and excavations. Dumas stayed in Naples until 1864.
