Kipling invite son correspondant à le rejoindre dans sa demeure de Etchingham.

” Dear Vicomte, I ‘m glad to learn that you are in England again. It would give us very great pleasure if you could come down for the night on Monday 19th. The best trains from Charing Cross to Etchingham are those starting at 1.36 p.m. arriving at 3:47; and 4:50 p.m. reaching here at 6.29. I will meet you at the station with the (?) if you say that you can come. Very sincerely. Rudyard Kipling.”

 

Traduction : « Cher vicomte, Je suis heureux d’apprendre que vous êtes de nouveau en Angleterre. Cela nous ferait très grand plaisir si vous pouviez venir passer la nuit du lundi 19. Les meilleurs trains de Charing Cross à Etchingham sont ceux dont les départs sont à 13h36, arrivée à 15h47 ; et 16h50, arrivée à 18h20. Je vous retrouverai à la gare (…) si vous me confirmez votre venue. Très sincèrement. Rudyard Kipling.
