Depicting a virgin and child, the drawing here testifies to the Catalan painter's deep admiration for Raphael, whom he considered superior to Leonardo da Vinci, and who appeared in his personal pantheon alongside Vermeer and Velázquez.

Provenance: Cécile Éluard (1928.2016), only daughter of Paul Éluard and Gala Dalí.

Certificate of authenticity from MM. Nicolas and Olivier Descharnes. The work is registered in the Descharnes Archives under the reference d7034.
