Salvador Dali (1904.1989)

Original signed drawing.

Indian ink on paper.

Signed and dated “ Salvador Dalí 1951

Studies for the illustrations of pages XIX and XXX of his Mystical Manifesto .

Splendid surrealist drawing by the Catalan painter showing two altars with atomic decorations perfectly emblematic of his period of Corpuscular Mysticism .

In the left margin, Dalí adds with conviction:

Long live Gala!

Long live Gala!

Long live Gala!

Long live Gala!

Long live Gala!

Corpuscle and wave of my Misticism!

During this period of atomic mysticism, Dalí was inspired by atomic physics, and elementary particles separated by vacuum remain in balance, while forming a coherent whole on a macroscopic scale. The flagship work of this period is exhibited at the Gala – Salvador Dalí Foundation: Leda atómica .

In the Mystical Manifesto , Dalí explains the change that took place in him from the end of the 1940s: " The most subversive things that can happen to an ex-surrealist are two: first, becoming a mystic, and second, knowing how to draw: these two forms of vigor have just arrived to me together and at the same time to me .
