Dear Liar is an epistolary comedy by the American writer Jérome Kilty, written from the correspondence of two famous lovers: the Irish playwright, George Bernard Shaw and the English actress, Mrs Campbell. This text was adapted into French by Jean Cocteau , and the play was created in Paris on September 25, 1980, at the Théâtre de l'Athénée, with Edwige Feuillère and Jean Marais in the two main roles. Yves Saint Laurent designed and had Edwige Feuillère's stage costumes made in his workshops. Hector Pascual assisted him with the scenography. In memory of their collaboration, YSL gave her three sketchbooks on Canson paper, dedicated to the dresses designed for the occasion.

Hector Pascual (1928.2014) was the curator of the collections of the Pierre Bergé – Yves St Laurent Foundation from 1981 to 2009. It was during the preparation of the magazine “ Zizi je t'aime ” at the Casino de Paris in 1972, that he meets Yves St Laurent. From then on, he was YSL's assistant for 10 years, creating costumes in plays by J. Cocteau such as L'Aigle à deux têtes or Cher liar . In 1981, YSL appointed him curator of the collections of his fashion house, within the Yves Saint Laurent Documentation Center. Between the two men, the understanding was perfect. To the deep admiration that Pascual has for him, Saint Laurent responds with multiple testimonies of his affection, as evidenced by this letter.
