Roger de Beauvoir (1807.1866)

Signed autograph poem.

One oblong quarto page. Pyrenees. 1841.

Eighteen lines, in alexandrines, taken from his poem entitled The Rainbow.

In this water that falls back down and resembles lava

It bubbles incessantly in the depths of the river

…..

Then on the plateau strewn with jewels

I saw the gentian and the rose in bloom

A thousand mountain plants that, towards this pure ray,

They turned around, shaking their azure bells!

And I thought of you for a long time on that summit

You were the rainbow, and I was the abyss!
