“Dear Sir, I have received your letter of April 7, relating to the question of the damaged painting. Your friend can bring me this painting and I will see what can be done. In case I don't have enough time to make the necessary repairs, I will replace this painting with something else, as you suggest. I don't know if in the state it is in it can be restored? Anyway, send me the chart so I know what can be done. The death of our cousin was an impossible event for all of us to understand (like many other things). We had to admit it, without, for my part, being able to admit the validity of life and death. We truly live in an incomprehensible world! »
