“My dear Paul, I hope that when this card reaches you that you will have been able to see Georgette [Goldstein, his wife]. I am very worried. But Mabille's presence reassures me and calms me a little. Yesterday I sent the promised shovel to Picasso from l'Isle (23 bis rue de la Boétie). I hope he will be happy. Write to me I am very black. Tenderness. R. Char. You will tell me if the shovel has arrived (it takes 4 days) »
