Raymond RADIGUET (1903.1923)

Autograph letter signed to Irène Lagut.

Three pages in-12°. 11 July.

Very beautiful letter from Radiguet to his painter friend, evoking Jean Cocteau and his own poems.

“Dear friend, I am not like Jean and have no newspaper to ask for your address (only a few “literary” magazines that you do not read, fortunately). Have you received the latest issue of Literature , which contains my dictation. Attached is a poem, rather a page of writing. Because what certainly made me suffer the most was copying it out on that awful compliment paper, which whitens my fingers. Put yours, preferably on the second page. You will see that I am not lying. Writing compliments on paper frees me from paying you any. And therefore I will not speak of your “painting” (this swear word shocks you, I hope?) Please remind me of the good memory of your husband and believe me, Madam, your devoted. Raymond Radiguet- 4 avenue Charles VII, Parc St Maur, Seine- PS Josette Gris does not dare throw away the flowers (although now faded) that you sent her. Because it’s a gift from you! »
