“I write poems of a very old man, with this difference that no old man would know how to write them! »

« Dear Irene, Your letter gives me great pleasure; I am also very happy to learn that you are working. I work a lot; I write huge poems (one per day) and obscene ones ! The dreams……that you speak to me about are they always of the same nature. This interests me a lot. What a shame that you refuse to tell them! I remember one evening when, despite the pleas of Jean and me, you did not want to tell us anything ; It was an American-style lobster evening at the Bertins', if I remember correctly. Forgive me for saying such stupid things to you, but work (and what work!) and the countryside make me spoiled. I write poems about a very old man, with the difference that no old man could write them! Finally on my return, which cannot be long (in a fortnight) I will show you all these horrors ; if you don't cover your ears. Sorry for this writing paper, if I were spoiled for choice, I would have chosen flowered paper for you, but this ugly checkered paper, I can only make it flowery with this nonsense that I'm telling you. Write to me, you will make me immensely happy. If you go to the Dardels, give me news of Nils and especially of Thara. ! She writes me a very kind letter, with very Swedish drawings and very much in the style of my uncle . She tells me that she had already written to me once, but that Nils wanted to correct the mistakes in her letter, and that afterwards nothing remained! It's so nice! I'm telling you this because you certainly love Thara, as much as I love her. Goodbye my dear Irene, tell me a little about Paris, if you have time. I kiss you. Raymond Radiguet. »
