“Dear Miss, It is indeed a very good idea to write a book for school children, but I think you will have to content yourself with summarizing what has already been published on the General by arranging it to your liking. idea.
It turns out that my two eldest (who are gifted with quite alert pens) had the idea of doing something jointly after the war about their father. And as their memories only go back less than 16-18 years, I write down for them, as they come to mind, all the facts etc. that I may have known myself, or that I was told by my in-laws' family.
Finally, I know that after the war I will find the photos necessary to illustrate everything. Don't blame me for my discretion, mothers only think about their children! And I would like their “work” to be good! Receive, dear Mademoiselle, the expression of my distinguished feelings. Y. de Gaulle. »
