Pierre MOLINIER (1900-1976)

Original photomontage – On the Pavois.

Period silver print. Circa 1969.

Plate 26 of the Shaman and his Creatures

Size: 22.20 x 16.70 cm. Double stamp on the back.

In his work published in 1971, Surrealism and sexuality , Xavière Gauthier, on the sidelines of the reproduction of the photomontage, expresses the following point of view regarding Molinier's mythical cliché: " If surrealism was anything, it was at the level perversions promoted by its painters and some of its writers. The point of impact of surrealism, its truth, is located exactly below the center of Pierre Molinier's photomontage, Sur le bulwark. It is located between the widely spread buttocks of a woman whose legs sheathed in long black stockings repeat and multiply. »
