Éluard recommended to his friend Cocteau the work of the sculptor Raïnof Boyan, suggesting his work on Belles et de Bêtes.

The Franco-Bulgarian sculptor Raïnof Boyan (1921.2005), emigrated to France in 1946, remained famous for his monumental sculptures. Close to the collector couple Christian and Yvonne Zervos, he has also illustrated numerous works by his friend René Char.
