“Sir, I have signed you a proof for a lithograph in black , the stone of which Dejobert [Desjobert, lithographic printer in Paris] erased a year ago it seems. Here we are again with nothing. Of course it would be easy to take a tracing paper and redo the stone without faith. But I feel committed after several misunderstandings and cannot refuse you a job that you are hoping for. Give me some time. I will give you a color plate if it is not completely impossible for you to stay in touch without a third party.
