The international exhibition of original drawings was established in 1968 and held at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka. The museum, founded in 1948 as the "Gallery of Fine Arts," was renamed the "Modern Gallery" in 1962. In independent Croatia, in 1999, it adopted a new name, becoming the "Rijeka Modern Gallery – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.".
