Beautiful two-handed letter, written with her friend and companion Charlotte Vauvelle, about the reading of Charlotte Brontë distracting Louise Michel from the throes of the social situation.

“Dear comrade Alexandre Roy, Your novel Jane Eyre is charming in that it is deeply felt. I read it with such pleasure that I momentarily forgot the boredom of living in current circumstances. It's not that I'm discouraged, but I find that the great human herd is terribly patient. We have gone a long time without writing to you since Charlotte has been very ill. She's just starting to get a little better. I'll give him a little space to write to you..."

Louise Michel finally thanks her correspondent for sending photographs and leaves the pen to Charlotte Vauvelle: “Dear Monsieur Alexandre Roy, my letter would be very long if I told you all my impressions about Jane Eyre.
