Very beautiful letter, in difficult French, from the American dancer.

“Dear Sir, thank you very much for your kindness and for all the advice you gave me. And I very much regret not having had the opportunity to thank you. I have 3 new shows to write, one for the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the others for the opera. One has, for the central idea, a large Fantastic Dragon 75 feet long which comes from China. This must carry all the forces of good and evil.

Another is the white forest on which I can project all the effects of the lights representing the elements, the bottom of the sea, the interior of the earth, etc. etc. The third, I have not yet imagined but apart from that I have been a friend of Madame Curie for around thirty years and very very interested in the career of her daughter, Mademoiselle Ève, and I was (like her and her daughter) very touched by your kindness for her and her talent, she was very grateful for your appreciation. She is very shy and she would not want to take advantage of her mother's power. But she really likes to see you personally – without embarrassing you like some people, to thank you and to chat with you. And for me (who has the experience to understand), I know that surely you will also understand Miss Curie's fear at the beginning of her career of making indiscretions. But her career is close to the heart of a soul to whom the world owes so much good (who has given everything) that this opportunity to give her happiness is happiness for all, and you are the first to report and The talent of her daughter must be a credit to her mother. And for this, she continues her efforts – work – work – work.

Your encouragement is very dear to her = therefore – you must talk with her. Excuse me, I never studied French and never learned to write. So forgive me for bad French, I just think that you will never be able to read they say it will be even more terrible. Time wasted for you and for me and forgive me for disturbing your work. All my deepest and sincere sympathy. Yours very truly with renewed thanks. Loie Fuller…. »
